Knitted Pumpkin

I am delighted to share my pattern for this cozy knitted pumpkin! This charming decoration is perfect for adding a touch of handmade warmth to your autumn decor. The pattern is simple enough for beginners but also enjoyable for experienced knitters. Let's get started!

What You’ll Need

  • Gauge: 12 sts/20 R, 10x10 cm
  • Needles: 8 mm double-pointed needles or circular needles
  • Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle, fiberfill or wool for stuffing, and optional is a small stick or cinnamon stick for the stem

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Cast On and Base:

  1. Using the long-tail cast-on method, cast on 45 stitches.
  2. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of the round.

Rnd 1: K2, p1

Work Rnd 1 for 25 Rnds.

Finishing: Cast off. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the tail with the tapestry needle through every other the stitch hole, and pull tight to close the top. Secure the yarn but do not cut it yet. Stuff the pumpkin with fiberfill or wool until it reaches the desired firmness. Cut another long piece of yarn and weave the yarn with the tapestry needle to every other stitch hole of the Cast on round to close the pumpkin. Pull tight and secure the yarn.
Shape: With the rest of the yarn tail, weave the yarn to the middle with the tapestry needle. Pull the yarn down through the middle of the pumpkin and secure the yarn holding the tension on the yarn to create a pumpkin shape. Weave in the ends.

Stem: Insert a small stick or cinnamon stick into the center top of the pumpkin to create the stem. Secure it with a few stitches if necessary.
or
Knit a stem using the I-cord method:
Cast on 5 sts on double sided needle, size 4 mm. K4 and slide the sts to the other end of the needle, k4 and repeat until the stem measures 5 cm. Cast off and secure the stem with a few stitches to the pumpkin. Weave in the ends.

An instruction video will come soon on my new youtube channel!
